Fit Check, Every Seat
- Hold tongue to tongue. Place the clip's 2 cm tongue over your BMW belt tongue. Width and slot must match.
- Click and pull. Push the clip into the buckle until it latches, then pull upwards hard.
- Belt and pull. Fasten your belt into the clip and tug the belt sharply. Both joints must hold.
- Release once. Press the rear button down. Your belt should free in one press.
- Sit and look. Lap belt low on the hips, shoulder strap across the collarbone, well away from the neck.
Use It Properly
- One clip per seat, never two linked together.
- Always fasten your belt through it. Left in an empty buckle, it can make the car think the seat is belted.
- Replace the clip after any collision, or if the shell cracks or the latch feels gritty.

Which BMW Chassis Codes Does The Clip Extender Fit?
The supplier lists the E30, E34, E36, E46, E53, E60, E87, E90, E92, F10 and F30, which covers 3 Series, 5 Series, 1 Series and first-generation X5 models from 1984 to 2018. Compare the clip's 2 cm tongue with your own belt tongue and run the pull test on each seat before driving.
Is It An Official BMW M Performance Part?
No. It is an aftermarket accessory with a tricolour stripe design, and it is not made, supplied or endorsed by BMW or BMW M GmbH. BMW's own M Performance range is sold through BMW retailers.
Will It Fit A Classic E30, E34 Or E36?
It is listed for them, but buckles on cars that are 30 or more years old may be worn, replaced or a different design. Clean the factory buckle, then do the tongue match and both pull tests. If anything slips or the release feels stiff, do not use it, and consider a replacement buckle for the car itself.
Is It The Same As The BMW Coupé Seat Belt Extender Arm?
No. BMW coupés such as the E92 3 Series and the 4 Series use a belt feeder arm that moves the belt forward to your shoulder, a genuine BMW part that can wear on high-mileage cars. The clip extender works at the other end of the belt, raising the buckle by your hip. It will not fix a faulty belt arm.
Is It Suitable For Children Or During Pregnancy?
Never use any extender with a child car seat, booster or child passenger; see our UK child car seat rules guide for the law. In pregnancy, wear the lap belt low under the bump and the shoulder strap between the breasts, and use an extender only if the belt cannot fasten correctly, after speaking to your midwife or GP.
