Cadillac CTS Seat Belt Extender

Buckle Up Comfortably in Your Cadillac CTS

The CTS ran for seventeen years across three generations and three body styles, which makes it the hardest Cadillac to buy a belt extender for. Work through the identification table below first. Get the generation and body right and the rest is simple.

The Problem

Every CTS is a rear-drive car with a transmission tunnel running through the cabin, which pushes the front buckle stalk into a narrow slot between the seat and a raised console. You end up reaching into a gap you cannot see. In the rear, the saloon, the wagon and the coupe each present a different problem, and on older cars a stiffening retractor makes all of them worse.

The Solution

A certified extender lifts the connection point up out of that slot to where your hand already falls. One click into the car's buckle, one click with your factory belt tongue, and you are secured comfortably. Nothing is cut, drilled, or modified, and it lifts straight back out.

Exceeds Break-Strength

Built to surpass international break-strength tests for three-point belts.

Which CTS do you have?

Three generations, three body styles, and one overlapping year. Find your car here before you choose anything else.

Body and generation Years Seats Worth knowing
Saloon, first generation 2003 to 2007 5 Sigma platform. Now twenty years old, so confirm your receptacle shape before ordering.
Saloon, second generation 2008 to 2013 5 Sigma II. Longer and wider than the first car, with a revised interior.
Sport Wagon 2010 to 2014 5 Front seats match the saloon. The rear uses a 60/40 split-folding bench, so the centre position differs.
Coupe 2011 to 2014 4 Two doors with two individual rear seats and no centre rear position. Order by side.
Saloon, third generation 2014 to 2019 5 Stretched Alpha platform, an entirely different car from the 2013 saloon despite the shared name.

If your CTS is a 2014, read this first

2014 is the one year where four different cars wore the same badge. The third-generation saloon arrived as a 2014 model on the new Alpha platform, while the second-generation Coupe and Sport Wagon carried on alongside it as 2014 models on the old Sigma II platform.

So a 2014 CTS saloon and a 2014 CTS Coupe are not related cars, and they do not take the same part. Selecting the year alone is not enough here. Tell us the body style too, or send the VIN and we will work it out for you.

Choose the style that fits how you drive

Three styles across our full extender range. Which one you want depends on whether the belt falls short or the buckle is out of reach.

Style Best for
Rigid A solid section in 3, 5 or 7 inch that stands upright and holds the buckle above the console line. Usually the right answer in the front seats of any CTS, and especially on V-Series cars with performance bolsters.
Regular Woven webbing in 7 inch or 10 inch matching your factory belt, adding flexible reach between the belt tongue and the receptacle. The usual pick for the rear bench of a saloon or wagon.
Adjustable Woven webbing with a sliding adjuster covering 9 to 26 inches. Worth it when several people share the car and no single length suits everyone.

How it works

Nothing is cut, drilled, or modified. The whole thing takes about five seconds and lifts straight back out whenever you want it gone.

1

Click the extender's tongue into your seat belt receptacle.

2

Buckle your seat belt into the extender. Takes about five seconds, no tools needed.

3

To remove it, press the release button just like a normal belt.

Pick the shortest length that works

We recommend adding only the minimum length you need to buckle comfortably. More webbing is not safer, it just adds slack.

1.Confirm generation and body

Saloon, Sport Wagon or Coupe, and which generation. On a 2014 car this matters more than anything else.

2.Reach with your eyes shut

If you find the latch by feel you need length. If your hand stops at the console, you need height, and that is a rigid extender.

3.Need help?

Send your VIN, body style and seat position, and our team will confirm the fit for your CTS.

Made for

  • Plus-sized drivers and passengers
  • V-Series owners sitting inside performance bolsters
  • Rear passengers climbing into a two-door Coupe
  • Anyone with mobility or reach limitations

Good to know

  • A 2014 CTS could be either of two generations, so always give the body style
  • Saloon, wagon and Coupe differ in the rear even within the same generation
  • CTSs in the UK are usually left-hand-drive imports, so tell us the physical side

Satisfaction Guarantee

Try it in your CTS. If it is not right for you, return it within the guarantee window.

Questions worth answering

1My CTS is a 2014. Which generation is it?+
Count the doors, and that will usually settle it. The third-generation saloon launched as a 2014 model on the new Alpha platform, while the second-generation Coupe and Sport Wagon carried on beside it as 2014 models on the older Sigma II platform. So a four-door 2014 saloon is the new car, a two-door 2014 Coupe is the old one, and a five-door 2014 wagon is the old one too. They are unrelated vehicles that happen to share a badge and a year. If you are still unsure, send us the VIN.
2Is the Sport Wagon different from the saloon?+
Up front, the two share the same seats and stalks. The rear differs, because the wagon uses a 60/40 split-folding bench to open up the load bay rather than the saloon's arrangement. The centre position in particular is affected, since that section folds separately. If you are buying for a rear seat, specify saloon or Sport Wagon along with the exact position. Worth checking too that belts and stalks are sitting clear after the bench has been folded and raised, since they can end up trapped behind the cushion.
3Does the Coupe have a centre rear seat?+
No. The CTS Coupe carries four people in two individual rear seats, so there is no middle position and no centre rear belt to extend. Order by side instead, which also removes any confusion about driver and passenger on an imported left-hand-drive car. Getting into a two-door rear seat also leaves the buckle behind your hip rather than beside it, so a short rigid extender often works better there than webbing.
4How do I tell whether I need rigid or regular?+
Sit in the seat dressed as you normally drive and reach for the buckle with your eyes shut. If your hand finds the latch and the belt simply will not stretch to meet it, you need length, so choose a regular extender in the shortest size that reaches. If your hand meets the console or the seat bolster before it gets near the latch, you need height instead, and that is a rigid extender whatever your size. Front seats in a CTS are usually the second case because of the transmission tunnel and console. The rear bench is usually the first.
5My belt pulls out slowly and barely retracts. Will an extender fix it?+
Probably not, and worth testing before you spend anything, especially on a first or second-generation car. A sluggish belt on an older CTS is usually a tired retractor or webbing full of grit rather than a belt that is genuinely too short. Pull the belt out slowly to its full extent and see whether it reaches past the buckle with slack to spare. If it does, the mechanism is your problem and an extender will only add slack to an already lazy belt. If it stops short even fully extended, an extender is the right product.
6I traded a Catera, or I am moving to a CT5. Can I reuse the extender?+
Do not assume so in either direction. The CTS replaced the Catera, which was a rebadged Opel Omega built in Germany, and the CTS was itself replaced by the CT5 on the Alpha 2 platform. Three cars, three architectures, three sets of seats. Filling the same slot in Cadillac's range does not mean sharing a belt tongue. If you still have the old extender, send us a photo of it beside your CTS buckle and we will tell you plainly whether it matches.
7Can I leave it fitted, and will it upset the belt warning?+
The car reads a fastened belt exactly as normal, because the extender clicks into the same receptacle the belt would. You can leave it in the seat you use it in, and many owners do. Unclip it when the seat is empty, since belt and occupancy sensors can otherwise read an occupied but unbelted position. Anyone who can fasten the standard belt without help should unclip it first, because an extender is only intended for people who otherwise cannot buckle up, and it should never be used with a child seat or child restraint.
8Is it road legal here, and what if it does not fit?+
Our extenders carry E4 or E8 type approval, the European mark showing the part has been tested and approved to the relevant standard, and they are made in a UK-registered factory compliant with ISO/TS 16949:2009 to exceed international break-strength requirements for three-point belts. Read your owner's handbook alongside the safety notes supplied before use. Care is simple: wipe the webbing with a damp cloth and mild soap, avoid solvents and bleach, and replace it if you find fraying, a stiff latch, or after any collision. If it does not fit, return it within the guarantee window for a refund, though contacting us first with your body style and a photo usually gets the right part to you faster.
