The H9 is a proper ladder-frame seven-seater with a low-range transfer case, which means a substantial tunnel through the cabin and three rows that each need something different. Establish your generation and your row before you choose a length.
The Problem
Body-on-frame construction with a transfer case puts a wide, tall tunnel down the center of the cabin, and the console sits high on top of it. Up front the buckle stalk drops into the slot between that console and your seat, out of sight. In the second row the latches sit low against the cushion. In the third row the belts are shorter, mounted differently, and reached by someone who has just climbed past a folded seat. Add heavy outdoor clothing and none of it is easy.

Two Generations, And They Are Very Different Cars
The original H9 went into production in November 2014 and ran for the best part of a decade, including a facelift. The second generation was revealed in January 2024 and went into production that May, and it is not a mild update. The body was extensively redesigned and the ladder frame re-engineered, with a boxier shape that owes a good deal to the Defender and the G-Class.
Interiors were reworked to match, so treat the two as separate vehicles when you order. Tell us the exact year, and if your car sits close to the 2024 changeover, send a photo of your latch plate and the slot it enters.
Every H9 In Britain Is An Import
GWM sells cars in the UK, but the H9 is not among them. Our showrooms carry the Ora and the Haval Jolion Pro, while the H9 goes to China, Australia, South Africa, Russia and the Middle East. Every example here arrived privately.
Unusually, that does not tell you which side the wheel is on. Australia and South Africa took the H9 in right-hand drive, while other markets are left-hand drive, so an import could be either. Give us the physical side rather than saying driver or passenger, and mention which market the car came from.
