Hyundai Accent Seat Belt Extender

Product description
Shipping & Return
🛡E4 & E8 Certified · Built In A UK Registered Factory

Buckle Up Comfortably In Your Hyundai Accent

The Accent has been built since 1994 across five generations, in saloon and hatchback form, under more names than almost any other car. Establish your generation and your body style first, because a 1996 saloon and a 2015 hatchback have very little in common.

The Problem

A small car puts the buckle stalk low down tight against the seat, with the handbrake on one side and the sill on the other, leaving almost no gap for a hand. In the rear a short bench puts the latch against the cushion, so passengers reach behind the hip. On the older generations, now twenty years and more on the road, a stiffening retractor turns an awkward reach into a genuine struggle.

The Solution

A certified extender brings the connection point back to where your hand already falls. One click into the car's buckle, one click with your original belt tongue, and you are secured comfortably. Nothing is cut, drilled, or modified, and it lifts straight back out.

Which Generation Do You Have?

Five generations in thirty years, and the years overlap because different markets changed over at different times. Find yours here.

Generation Years Worth Knowing
First, X3 1994 to 2000 Replaced the Excel. Now thirty years old, so send a photo of the buckle before ordering.
Second, LC 1999 to 2006 The point at which Korea switched to the Verna name. Sold far longer in some markets.
Third, MC 2006 to 2011 The last generation most British buyers saw new before the i20 took over the slot.
Fourth, RB 2010 to 2019 Sold as the Solaris in Russia and the Dodge Attitude in Mexico.
Fifth, HC 2017 onward Current car in the markets that still take it, on a newer and stiffer platform.

If Your Car Carries A Different Badge

British cars say Accent, so most owners here are in the right place already. Elsewhere Hyundai renamed this car constantly. Korea, India and China knew it as the Verna. Australia, the Netherlands and Belgium kept the Excel name from its predecessor. France had it as the Pony, Russia as the Solaris, Turkey as the Accent Blue or Accent Era, Indonesia as the Avega or Grand Avega, Puerto Rico as the Brio, Colombia and Israel as the i25, and Mexico sold it through Chrysler as the Dodge Attitude.

All of those are the same car underneath. If yours arrived as an import wearing one of those names, tell us the badge, the year and the market, and we will match from the vehicle rather than the nameplate.

Choose The Style That Fits Where You Sit

Three styles across our full extender range. In a car this size the problem is usually reach rather than height.

Style Best For
Regular Woven webbing in 7 inch or 10 inch matching your original belt. The usual answer front and rear, since the seats are modestly shaped and the issue is reach in a tight cabin.
Rigid A solid section in 3, 5 or 7 inch that stands upright and holds the buckle visible above the cushion. Worth it if your hand meets the seat before it finds the latch, or in heavy winter clothing.
Adjustable Woven webbing with a sliding adjuster covering 9 to 26 inches. Sensible where the same seat carries different people on different days.

How It Works

Nothing is cut, drilled, or modified. The whole thing takes about five seconds and lifts straight back out whenever you want it gone.

1

Click the extender's tongue into your seat belt receptacle.

2

Buckle your seat belt into the extender. Takes about five seconds, no tools needed.

3

To remove it, press the release button just like a normal belt.

Pick The Shortest Length That Works

We recommend adding only the minimum length you need to buckle comfortably. More webbing is not safer, it just adds slack.

1.Confirm Generation And Body

Saloon or hatchback, and which of the five generations. Both change the part you need.

2.Check The Belt First

On an older generation, make sure a tired retractor is not the real problem before you buy.

3.Need Help?

Send your year, body, badge and seat position, plus a photo of the buckle, and we will confirm.

Questions Worth Answering

1Which Generation Is Mine, And Why Does It Matter?+
It matters more here than on almost any car we cover, because the Accent has run continuously since 1994 through five distinct generations. A first-generation car from the nineties and a current one share a name and very little else. The years also overlap, since Hyundai changed over at different times in different markets, and older generations stayed in production for local buyers long after newer ones launched. Select your exact year rather than rounding, and if your car is from the first two generations, send a photo of the latch plate and the slot it enters as well.
2Will A Kia Rio Part Fit My Accent?+
Often, and it is the sensible place to start. The Kia Rio shares its platform with the Accent, which is why the two cars have tracked each other closely through several generations. The Rio has also sold in much greater numbers in Britain, so its parts are far easier to find here. Two cautions. Match the generations rather than just the models, since a Rio of the wrong era will not help. And each brand fits its own seats, with the belt tongue belonging to the seat rather than the floorpan. Photograph both latch plates side by side and send them over.
3Does Saloon Or Hatchback Change The Part?+
In the rear it can. The Accent was built as a four-door saloon, a three-door hatchback and a five-door hatchback depending on generation and market, and the rear arrangement differs between them, particularly where a folding bench opens into a load bay. Front seats are shared, so a front-seat order is the same either way. If you are buying for a rear seat, specify the body along with the exact position, and check that no belt or stalk is trapped behind the cushion after the bench has been folded and raised.
4My Belt Pulls Out Slowly. Will An Extender Fix It?+
Probably not, and it is worth testing before you spend anything on an older Accent. On a car that has done twenty years of daily work, a sluggish belt is usually a tired retractor or webbing full of grit rather than a belt that is genuinely too short. Pull the belt out slowly to its full extent and see whether it reaches past the buckle with slack to spare. If it does, the mechanism is your problem and an extender will only add slack to an already lazy belt. If it stops short even fully extended, an extender is the right product. Cleaning the webbing is the cheaper first move either way.
5Is It Road Legal Here, And What If It Does Not Fit?+
Our extenders carry E4 or E8 type approval, the European mark showing the part has been tested and approved to the relevant standard, and they are made in a UK-registered factory compliant with ISO/TS 16949:2009 to exceed international break-strength requirements for three-point belts. Read your owner's handbook alongside the safety notes supplied before use. Extenders are only for people who cannot otherwise fasten the standard belt, and should never be used with a child seat or child restraint. Care is simple: wipe the webbing with a damp cloth and mild soap, avoid solvents and bleach, and replace it if you find fraying, a stiff latch, or after any collision. If it does not fit, return it within the guarantee window for a refund.
