Hyundai Atos Seat Belt Extender

Product description
Shipping & Return
🛡E4 & E8 Certified · Built In A UK Registered Factory

Buckle Up Comfortably In Your Hyundai Atos

If you are reading this in Britain, your car almost certainly says Amica or Atoz on the boot rather than Atos. Hyundai used at least six names for this city car around the world, and the badge you have tells us which version to match.

The Problem

A city car under three and a half meters long has no room to spare, and the Atos puts the buckle stalk low down tight against the seat where you cannot see it. The front seats sit close to the sill on one side and the handbrake on the other, leaving almost no gap for a hand. In the rear a short bench puts the latch against the cushion. On a car now twenty years old, a stiffening retractor makes all of it worse.

The Solution

A certified extender brings the connection point back to where your hand already falls. One click into the car's buckle, one click with your original belt tongue. Nothing is cut, drilled, or modified, which matters on a car whose original parts are no longer easy to find.

Why Safety-First Matters Here

🏭

UK Registered Factory

Manufactured in a facility operating to ISO/TS quality standards.

💪

Exceeds Break-Strength

Built to surpass international break-strength tests for three-point belts.

One Car, Six Names

Hyundai badged this car differently almost everywhere it sold it, and Britain used two names across its life. All of them are covered here.

Name Where It Was Used
Hyundai Amica The United Kingdom, for the later Atos Prime. The name most British owners will have.
Hyundai Atoz The United Kingdom for the original car, and Indonesia
Hyundai Santro Or Santro Xing India and Pakistan, built at Chennai from 1998
Kia Visto South Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines
Atos By Dodge Mexico
Inokom Atos Malaysia, assembled locally

Three Versions Across Seventeen Years

The original Atos arrived in 1997. A revised car with a different rear end and restyled rear doors followed from 1999, sold as the Atos Prime and known here as the Amica, and a further facelift came in 2003. Production carried on in India until late 2014, long after most markets had moved to the i10.

Seventeen years is a long time for a small car, and the rear doors were physically redesigned partway through, so treat an early car and a late one as different vehicles. Select your exact year, and send a photo of your latch plate and the slot it enters if you are unsure which version you have.

Choose The Style That Fits Where You Sit

Three styles across our full extender range. In a car this small the problem is usually reach rather than height.

Style Best For
Regular Woven webbing in 7 inch or 10 inch matching your original belt. The usual answer front and rear, since these seats are modestly shaped and the issue is reach across a tight cabin.
Rigid A solid section in 3, 5 or 7 inch that stands upright and holds the buckle visible above the cushion. Worth it if your hand meets the seat before it finds the latch, or in heavy winter clothing.
Adjustable Woven webbing with a sliding adjuster covering 9 to 26 inches. Sensible where the same seat carries different people on different days.

Hyundai Atos Fitment Details

Feature Detail
Model Years 1997 to 2014, with the Atos Prime from 1999 and a further facelift in 2003
Body Five-door hatchback only. No other body style was ever built.
UK Name Sold here as the Atoz and then the Amica, so most British cars carry one of those badges
Seat Positions Front driver, front passenger, rear window, rear middle. Two rows, no third row.
Tongue Width [CONFIRM TONGUE WIDTH] buckle configuration
Material Woven seat belt webbing or rigid metal extension, with a smooth-finish metal latch
Rear Seat Note The center rear belt uses a different stalk from the window seats, so order it separately
Related Models The Kia Visto is the same car rebadged, and the Kia Picanto and Hyundai Getz are close relatives
Successor The Hyundai i10 in most markets from 2007, though production continued in India to 2014
Certification E4 or E8 type-approved

How It Works

Nothing is cut, drilled, or modified. The whole thing takes about five seconds and lifts straight back out whenever you want it gone.

1

Click the extender's tongue into your seat belt receptacle.

2

Buckle your seat belt into the extender. Takes about five seconds, no tools needed.

3

To remove it, press the release button just like a normal belt.

Pick The Shortest Length That Works

We recommend adding only the minimum length you need to buckle comfortably. More webbing is not safer, it just adds slack.

1.Check The Belt First

On a car this age, make sure a tired retractor is not the real problem before you buy anything.

2.Find Your Seat

Front driver, front passenger, rear window, or rear middle. Each is a separate order.

3.Need Help?

Send your year, badge and seat position, plus a photo of the buckle, and we will confirm the fit.

Questions Worth Answering

1My Car Says Amica Or Atoz. Is This The Right Page?+
Yes, and if you are in Britain that is almost certainly what your car says. Hyundai sold this model here under two names across its life: Atoz for the original car from 1997, and Amica for the revised Atos Prime that followed from 1999. Atos was the name used in continental Europe and elsewhere, which is why it heads this page. Elsewhere again it was the Santro in India and Pakistan, the Kia Visto in Korea and much of Asia, a Dodge in Mexico, and an Inokom in Malaysia. All the same car. Tell us the badge and the year and we will match from the vehicle rather than the name.
2Will A Kia Visto Or Picanto Part Fit?+
The Visto is the strongest match of anything on the market, because it is not merely related to your car, it is your car with a Kia badge. Hyundai and Kia sold the same vehicle side by side in several countries. The Picanto is a different proposition: it replaced the Visto in 2004 as an all-new model, so it is a relative rather than a twin, and the Hyundai Getz sits in the same family again. Belt tongues belong to the seat rather than the floorpan, so photograph both latch plates and send them over and we will compare them properly.
3My Belt Pulls Out Slowly. Will An Extender Fix It?+
Probably not, and it is worth testing before you spend anything. These cars are now between eleven and twenty-eight years old, and on a budget city car that has worked hard, a sluggish belt is usually a tired retractor or webbing full of grit rather than a belt that is genuinely too short. Pull the belt out slowly to its full extent and see whether it reaches past the buckle with slack to spare. If it does, the mechanism is your problem and an extender will only add slack to an already lazy belt. If it stops short even fully extended, an extender is the right product. Cleaning the webbing is the cheaper first move either way.
4How Do I Tell Whether I Need Rigid Or Regular?+
Sit in the seat dressed as you normally drive and reach for the buckle with your eyes shut. If your hand finds the latch and the belt simply will not stretch to meet it, you need length, so choose a regular extender in the shortest size that reaches. If your hand meets the seat cushion before it gets near the latch, you need height instead, and that is a rigid extender. The Atos has modestly shaped seats rather than deep bolsters and no substantial console, so most owners need length rather than height. Do the test in a winter coat if that is how you usually travel, because it changes the answer more than people expect.
5Is It Road Legal Here, And What If It Does Not Fit?+
Our extenders carry E4 or E8 type approval, the European mark showing the part has been tested and approved to the relevant standard, and they are made in a UK-registered factory compliant with ISO/TS 16949:2009 to exceed international break-strength requirements for three-point belts. Read your owner's handbook alongside the safety notes supplied before use. Extenders are only for people who cannot otherwise fasten the standard belt, and should never be used with a child seat or child restraint. Care is simple: wipe the webbing with a damp cloth and mild soap, avoid solvents and bleach, and replace it if you find fraying, a stiff latch, or after any collision. If it does not fit, return it within the guarantee window for a refund, though sending a photo first usually saves the round trip on a car of this age.
