Hyundai i20 Seat Belt Extender

Product description

🛡E4 & E8 Certified · Built In A UK Registered Factory

Buckle Up Comfortably In Your Hyundai i20

The i20 has been on British roads since 2008 and is still on sale today, which means a lot of different cars wear the badge. Establish your generation and whether yours is a three-door or five-door before you order.

The Problem

A supermini has little space to spare, and the i20 puts the buckle stalk low down in the narrow slot between the console and the seat, where your hand goes in blind. In the rear a compact bench leaves passengers reaching behind the hip for a latch against the cushion. On N Line and N cars the front seats are more heavily bolstered, which closes off the gap further. A winter coat makes any of it worse.

The Solution

A certified extender brings the connection point back to where your hand already falls. One click into the car's buckle, one click with your factory belt tongue, and you are secured comfortably. Nothing is cut, drilled, or modified, and it lifts straight back out.

Exceeds Break-Strength

Built to surpass international break-strength tests for three-point belts.

Which Generation Do You Have?

Three generations have reached Britain since 2008, and two of them offered a three-door body alongside the familiar five-door.

Generation Years Bodies And Changes
First 2008 to 2014 Three-door and five-door hatchback, with a facelift in 2012. Replaced the Getz.
Second 2014 to 2020 Five-door, joined by the separate i20 Coupé from 2015 to 2018. Facelift in 2018.
Third 2020 onward Five-door only, facelifted in 2023. Still the current European car, and the basis of the Bayon.

Sports Seats Change The Answer

Most i20s have modestly shaped front seats where the problem is simply reach. The i20 N and the N Line are different, carrying firmer seats with raised side bolsters that sit between your hip and your hand.

Run your hand down the outer side of the cushion. If you can rest it flat without your arm riding up, you have standard seats and probably need length. If a raised wall stops your hand short, you need height instead, which means a rigid extender rather than a longer strap. Mention your trim when you order.

Related Hyundais Worth Knowing About

The i20 replaced the Getz in Europe and sits at the centre of a small family. The raised i20 Active of 2015 to 2020 was succeeded by the Bayon, which is built on the third-generation i20, so those two are closely related underneath.

India and other markets have run their own versions, including the Elite i20, and European cars are built at İzmit in Turkey. If yours arrived from outside Europe, tell us the market along with the year and send a photo of your latch plate.

Choose The Style That Fits Where You Sit

Three styles across our full extender range. Your seat matters as much as your seating position.

Style Best For
Regular Woven webbing in 7 inch or 10 inch matching your factory belt. The usual answer on standard seats front and rear, where the issue is reach in a tight cabin.
Rigid A solid section in 3, 5 or 7 inch that stands upright and holds the buckle visible above the bolster. The clearer choice on N Line and N cars, or in heavy winter clothing.
Adjustable Woven webbing with a sliding adjuster covering 9 to 26 inches. Worth it in the rear of a family car where passengers change from journey to journey.

Hyundai i20 Fitment Details

Feature Detail
Model Years 2008 onward, across three generations in Britain, with facelifts in 2012, 2018 and 2023
Bodies Covered Five-door hatchback throughout, plus the first-generation three-door and the i20 Coupé
Seat Positions Front driver, front passenger, rear window, rear middle. Two rows, five seats, no third row.
Seat Note N Line and N models carry firmer, more heavily bolstered front seats than standard cars
Material Woven seat belt webbing or rigid metal extension, with a smooth-finish metal latch
Rear Seat Note The centre rear belt uses a different stalk from the window seats, so order it separately
Related Models The Bayon is built on the third-generation i20, and the i20 replaced the Getz in Europe
Assembly İzmit in Turkey for European cars, with other markets supplied from India and elsewhere
Certification E4 or E8 type-approved

How It Works

Nothing is cut, drilled, or modified. The whole thing takes about five seconds and lifts straight back out whenever you want it gone.

1

Click the extender's tongue into your seat belt receptacle.

2

Buckle your seat belt into the extender. Takes about five seconds, no tools needed.

3

To remove it, press the release button just like a normal belt.

Pick The Shortest Length That Works

We recommend adding only the minimum length you need to buckle comfortably. More webbing is not safer, it just adds slack.

1.Confirm Generation And Body

Your year, and whether the car is a five-door, an early three-door or an i20 Coupé.

2.Check The Seat Side

A raised bolster on N Line or N cars points to rigid. A flat side points to regular.

3.Need Help?

Send your year, trim and seat position, and our team will confirm the fit for your i20.

Questions Worth Answering

1Which Generation Is Mine, And Does It Matter?+
It matters, because each redesign brought a new interior. The first i20 ran from 2008 to 2014 and replaced the Getz, with a facelift in 2012. The second arrived in 2014 and was facelifted in 2018. The third came in 2020 and was facelifted in 2023, and remains the car on sale here. Newer generations have appeared in other markets, so an import may not match a British car of the same year. Select your exact year rather than rounding, and send a photo of the latch plate if your car sits near a changeover.
2Is An i20 Coupe A Different Car?+
Different enough to be worth telling us about. Hyundai sold a three-door i20 Coupé alongside the second-generation five-door from 2015 to 2018, and the first generation also offered a three-door hatchback of its own between 2008 and 2014. Front seats are shared with the five-door, so a front order is the same. The rear is where it changes, because passengers climb in past a tilted front seat and settle into a position they did not choose, which often pushes the answer towards rigid rather than regular back there.
3Does N Line Or N Trim Change The Part?+
It can change the style rather than the stalk. Standard i20s have modestly shaped front seats where the difficulty is simply reach, and a regular extender usually suits. The N Line and the full i20 N carry firmer seats with raised bolsters running from hip to ribs, and a raised side wall between your hip and your hand points to a rigid extender instead, because webbing just folds down into the same gap. Run your hand down the outer side of the cushion to check, and mention your trim when you order.
4How Do I Tell Whether I Need Rigid Or Regular?+
Sit in the seat dressed as you normally drive and reach for the buckle with your eyes shut. If your hand finds the latch and the belt simply will not stretch to meet it, you need length, so choose a regular extender in the shortest size that reaches. If your hand meets the console or the seat side before it gets near the latch, you need height instead, and that is a rigid extender whatever your size. On a standard i20 the answer is usually length, since the car drives its front wheels and has no substantial tunnel. Do the test in a winter coat if that is how you travel.
5Is It Road Legal Here, And What If It Does Not Fit?+
Our extenders carry E4 or E8 type approval, the European mark showing the part has been tested and approved to the relevant standard, and they are made in a UK-registered factory compliant with ISO/TS 16949:2009 to exceed international break-strength requirements for three-point belts. Read your owner's handbook alongside the safety notes supplied before use. Extenders are only for people who cannot otherwise fasten the standard belt, and should never be used with a child seat or child restraint, so use the ISOFIX points fitted to your i20 instead. Unclip it when the seat is empty so occupancy sensors do not read an occupied but unbelted position. If it does not fit, return it within the guarantee window for a refund.
