Hyundai I30 Seat Belt Extender

Product description

🛡E4 & E8 Certified · Built In A UK Registered Factory

Buckle Up Comfortably In Your Hyundai i30

Four different bodies have worn the i30 badge in Britain: a five-door hatchback, a three-door, a Tourer estate and the Fastback. Work out which you have alongside your year, because the rear differs between them.

The Problem

The front buckle stalk sits in the narrow slot between the console and the seat, where your hand goes in blind. In the rear the latch sits low against the cushion and passengers reach behind the hip for it. On N Line and N cars the front seats are considerably more heavily bolstered, which closes that slot off almost entirely. Add a winter coat and any of those positions becomes a fumble rather than a habit.

The Solution

A certified extender brings the connection point back to where your hand already falls. One click into the car's buckle, one click with your factory belt tongue, and you are secured comfortably. Nothing is cut, drilled, or modified, and it lifts straight back out.

Exceeds Break-Strength

Built to surpass international break-strength tests for three-point belts.

Which Body Do You Have?

All four share their front seats, so the difference is what happens behind them.

Body Years Worth Knowing
Five-Door Hatchback 2007 onward The familiar car, and the only body still in production.
Tourer Estate 2008 onward A longer load bay with a folding rear bench, so check belts are clear after raising it.
Three-Door Hatchback 2012 to 2017 Rear passengers climb in past a tilted front seat, which changes the rear answer.
Fastback 2017 to recently A sloping liftback roofline that lowers the rear seating position. Production has now ended.

Three Generations Since 2007

The first i30 ran from 2007 to 2012, the second from 2012 to 2017, and the third arrived in 2016 and has been facelifted twice, most recently for 2024. European cars are built at Nošovice in the Czech Republic.

Worth knowing what has gone and what has not. Hyundai has ended production of the Fastback, and the i30 N hot hatch was discontinued as the brand moved its performance badge towards electric cars. The hatchback continues, now with 48 volt mild hybrid versions. None of that affects getting an extender, since ours fit the buckle rather than coming from Hyundai.

Sports Seats Change The Answer

Most i30s have modestly shaped front seats where the problem is simply reach. The i30 N and the N Line are different, carrying firmer seats with raised side bolsters that sit between your hip and your hand.

Run your hand down the outer side of the cushion. If you can rest it flat without your arm riding up, you have standard seats and probably need length. If a raised wall stops your hand short, you need height instead, which means a rigid extender rather than a longer strap. Mention your trim when you order.

Choose The Style That Fits Where You Sit

Three styles across our full extender range. Your seat matters as much as your seating position.

Style Best For
Regular Woven webbing in 7 inch or 10 inch matching your factory belt. The usual answer on standard seats front and rear, where the issue is reach rather than an obstruction.
Rigid A solid section in 3, 5 or 7 inch that stands upright and holds the buckle visible above the bolster. The clearer choice on N Line and N cars, and often in the rear of a three-door or Fastback.
Adjustable Woven webbing with a sliding adjuster covering 9 to 26 inches. Worth it in the rear of a family car where passengers change from journey to journey.

Hyundai i30 Fitment Details

Feature Detail
Model Years 2007 onward, across three generations, with the third facelifted in 2020 and again for 2024
Bodies Covered Five-door hatchback, Tourer estate, three-door hatchback and the Fastback liftback
Seat Positions Front driver, front passenger, rear window, rear middle. Two rows, five seats, no third row.
Seat Note N Line and N models carry firmer, more heavily bolstered front seats than standard cars
Material Woven seat belt webbing or rigid metal extension, with a smooth-finish metal latch
Rear Seat Note The center rear belt uses a different stalk from the window seats, so order it separately
Related Models The Kia Ceed shares its platform, and North America sold the i30 as the Elantra GT and Elantra Touring
Assembly Nošovice in the Czech Republic for European cars
Certification E4 or E8 type-approved

How It Works

Nothing is cut, drilled, or modified. The whole thing takes about five seconds and lifts straight back out whenever you want it gone.

1

Click the extender's tongue into your seat belt receptacle.

2

Buckle your seat belt into the extender. Takes about five seconds, no tools needed.

3

To remove it, press the release button just like a normal belt.

Pick The Shortest Length That Works

We recommend adding only the minimum length you need to buckle comfortably. More webbing is not safer, it just adds slack.

1.Confirm Body And Year

Hatchback, Tourer, three-door or Fastback, plus the exact year. Both narrow the part.

2.Check The Seat Side

A raised bolster on N Line or N cars points to rigid. A flat side points to regular.

3.Need Help?

Send your year, body, trim and seat position, and our team will confirm the fit.

  • ✦N Line and N owners sitting inside firmer bolstered seats

  • ✦Four bodies wore the i30 badge, and the rear differs between them

Questions Worth Answering

1Does My Body Style Change The Part?+
In the rear it can. All four bodies share their front seats, so a front order is the same whichever you have. Behind that they diverge. The Tourer has a folding bench opening into a long load bay, so check belts and stalks are clear after raising it. The three-door sold between 2012 and 2017 puts rear passengers in past a tilted front seat, leaving them settled awkwardly. The Fastback's sloping liftback roofline lowers the rear seating position. Both of those often push the rear answer towards rigid rather than regular, so specify the body when you order.
2Will A Kia Ceed Part Fit My i30?+
Often, and it is the sensible place to start. The Ceed, spelled Cee'd before 2018, was developed on the same platform as the i30 and the two have tracked each other through successive generations. Both sell here in comparable numbers, so parts are reasonably easy to find either way. Two cautions. Match the generations rather than just the models, since a Ceed from the wrong era will not help. And each brand fits its own seats, with the belt tongue belonging to the seat rather than the floorpan. Photograph both latch plates side by side and send them over.
3My Car Is An Elantra GT. Is This The Right Page?+
Yes, and that surprises people. North America never sold the i30 under its own name. The first-generation estate went there as the Elantra Touring, and from 2012 the hatchback carried Elantra GT badging instead, which is why an Elantra GT is an i30 rather than a version of the Elantra saloon. If yours is an American import wearing either of those badges, you are in the right place. Tell us the badge, the year and the market, and send a photo of your latch plate since specification varied between regions.
4How Do I Tell Whether I Need Rigid Or Regular?+
Sit in the seat dressed as you normally drive and reach for the buckle with your eyes shut. If your hand finds the latch and the belt simply will not stretch to meet it, you need length, so choose a regular extender in the shortest size that reaches. If your hand meets the console or the seat side before it gets near the latch, you need height instead, and that is a rigid extender whatever your size. On a standard i30 the answer is usually length. On an N Line or a full i30 N, the raised bolsters mean it is far more often height. Test in a winter coat if that is how you travel.
5Is It Road Legal Here, And What If It Does Not Fit?+
Our extenders carry E4 or E8 type approval, the European mark showing the part has been tested and approved to the relevant standard, and they are made in a UK-registered factory compliant with ISO/TS 16949:2009 to exceed international break-strength requirements for three-point belts. Read your owner's handbook alongside the safety notes supplied before use. Extenders are only for people who cannot otherwise fasten the standard belt, and should never be used with a child seat or child restraint, so use the ISOFIX points fitted to your i30 instead. Unclip it when the seat is empty so occupancy sensors do not read an occupied but unbelted position. If it does not fit, return it within the guarantee window for a refund.
