Hyundai i800 Seat Belt Extender

Product description

🛡E4 & E8 Certified · Built In A UK Registered Factory

Buckle Up Comfortably In Your Hyundai i800

The i800 is the British name for a vehicle sold as the iMax, the H-1 and the Grand Starex elsewhere. Eight seats across three rows means eight belt positions, so count the row you are fitting before you order.

The Problem

The i800 is built on van underpinnings and drives its rear wheels, so a proper tunnel runs through the cabin and the front seats sit high and close together with the buckle stalks dropping into slots you cannot see into. Further back, passengers on the middle and rear benches reach behind the hip for latches tucked against fixed cushions, often in coats, and the rearmost row is reached by climbing past the row in front.

The Solution

A certified extender brings the connection point back to where the hand already falls, in whichever row you need it. One click into the vehicle's buckle, one click with the factory belt tongue. Nothing is cut, drilled, or modified, and it lifts straight back out.

Exceeds Break-Strength

Built to surpass international break-strength tests for three-point belts.

One Vehicle, Many Names

Hyundai badged this van differently almost everywhere, and Britain used two names depending on whether it carried people or cargo.

Name Where It Is Used Covered Here
Hyundai i800 Britain, for the passenger version. Trims were SE and SE Nav. Yes
Hyundai iMax Australia, for the same passenger version Yes, same vehicle
H-1, H300 Or H-1 Travel Continental Europe, with H300 used in the Netherlands Yes, same vehicle
Grand Starex Or Starex Royale South Korea and Malaysia, sometimes with eleven seats Yes, though count the seats
Hyundai iLoad Britain and Australia, for the panel van Cab seats only. No rear seating fitted.

Count The Seats Before Ordering

British i800s are eight-seaters across three rows, but the same vehicle was built with as many as eleven places in markets whose regulations allowed it, and the iLoad van has nothing behind the cab at all. An import could therefore have considerably more positions than a British car.

Count what you actually have and tell us which row and which side you are fitting. Order only for the seats that genuinely need an extender rather than covering every position, since they are intended for people who cannot otherwise fasten the standard belt.

Work Out Which Row

Each row presents a different obstacle. Three styles are available across our full extender range.

Row What Is In The Way Usually Order
Front A rear-drive tunnel and a high console between seats mounted close together, as in a van. Rigid, 3 or 5 inch
Middle Row Reach rather than height, with the latch tucked low against a fixed bench cushion. Regular, or adjustable if passengers vary
Rear Row Shorter belts, mounted differently, reached after climbing in past the row in front. A dedicated rear-row part, ordered separately

Hyundai i800 Fitment Details

Feature Detail
Model Years Second generation from 2007, with Korean production ending in 2021 and exports continuing after
Body Four-door minibus with sliding side doors, on light commercial vehicle underpinnings
Layout Front engine with rear-wheel drive, so a proper tunnel runs between the front seats
Seating Eight seats in three rows on British cars, with up to eleven in some other markets
UK Trims SE and SE Nav, both with the 2.5 litre CRDi diesel and manual or automatic gearboxes
Material Woven seat belt webbing or rigid metal extension, with a smooth-finish metal latch
Successor The Hyundai Staria, which moved to front-wheel drive on a different platform, so it is not a parts match
Fleet Orders We are happy to quote on multiple vehicles, so get in touch with your seat counts
Certification E4 or E8 type-approved

How It Works

Nothing is cut, drilled, or modified. The whole thing takes about five seconds and lifts straight back out whenever you want it gone.

1

Click the extender's tongue into your seat belt receptacle.

2

Buckle your seat belt into the extender. Takes about five seconds, no tools needed.

3

To remove it, press the release button just like a normal belt.

Pick The Shortest Length That Works

We recommend adding only the minimum length you need to buckle comfortably. More webbing is not safer, it just adds slack.

1.Count The Rows And Seats

Eight is standard here, but imports may carry more. List the positions you actually need.

2.Measure In Outdoor Clothing

A length chosen in a shirt often fails in a coat. Size for how people actually travel.

3.Need Help?

Send your year, badge, row and side, plus a photo of the buckle, and we will confirm.

Made For

  • ✦Plus-sized drivers and passengers
  • ✦Private hire and shuttle operators carrying different passengers daily
  • ✦Rear-row passengers reaching for a shorter belt after an awkward climb in
  • ✦Anyone with mobility or reach limitations

Good To Know

  • ✦i800, iMax, H-1 and Grand Starex all describe the same vehicle
  • ✦The iLoad is the van version, so it has cab seats only
  • ✦The Staria that replaced it moved to front-wheel drive, so it is not a parts match

Questions Worth Answering

1My Vehicle Says iMax, H-1 Or Grand Starex. Right Page?+
Yes. Britain called the passenger version the i800, Australia called it the iMax, continental Europe knew it as the H-1 or H-1 Travel with H300 used in the Netherlands, and South Korea sold it as the Grand Starex. Malaysia had it as the Starex Royale. All the same vehicle. The one exception worth flagging is the iLoad, which is the panel van version sold here and in Australia, and has no seating behind the cab. Tell us the badge, the year and the market and we will work from the vehicle.
2How Many Seats Should Mine Have?+
Eight across three rows is the British configuration, and it is what almost every i800 sold here carries. Other markets went further where local rules allowed, with eleven-seat versions sold in Malaysia and elsewhere, so an import can have considerably more positions than you might expect. Count what is actually fitted rather than going by the model name, then tell us which row and which side you need. Order only for the seats that genuinely require an extender rather than covering every position as a matter of course.
3Does The Rear Row Need A Different Extender?+
Yes. The rearmost belts are shorter and anchored differently from the middle row, and the passenger reaches them from an awkward start after climbing past the row in front. Order a dedicated rear-row part rather than assuming a middle-row extender transfers backwards, and tell us which side, since the outer positions are not always identical. Worth checking too that nothing is trapped behind a cushion after any seat has been folded or moved for access.
4How Do I Tell Whether I Need Rigid Or Regular?+
Sit in the seat dressed as you normally travel and reach for the buckle with your eyes shut. If your hand finds the latch and the belt simply will not stretch to meet it, you need length, so choose a regular extender in the shortest size that reaches. If your hand meets the console or the seat base before it gets near the latch, you need height instead, and that is a rigid extender whatever your size. Unusually for a people carrier the i800 drives its rear wheels, so there is a proper tunnel up front and that row is usually the second case. Further back it is normally reach.
5Is It Road Legal Here, And What If It Does Not Fit?+
Our extenders carry E4 or E8 type approval, the European mark showing the part has been tested and approved to the relevant standard, and they are made in a UK-registered factory compliant with ISO/TS 16949:2009 to exceed international break-strength requirements for three-point belts. Read your handbook alongside the safety notes supplied before use. Extenders are only for people who cannot otherwise fasten the standard belt, and should never be used with a child seat or child restraint in any row. Operators running passenger services should check their own compliance requirements as well. If it does not fit, return it within the guarantee window for a refund.
