Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid Seat Belt Extender
Seat Belt Extender for the Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid
The Ioniq was Hyundai's first car built from the ground up as a hybrid or electric, sold as a five seat liftback from 2016 until production ended in 2022. You may know it as the Ioniq Hybrid, the Ioniq Plug-in or the Ioniq Electric. The roofline slopes low over the back seat, and in any of them the belt can fall short of the buckle. This extender adds the length you need. Choose from four sizes and three colours.
The Quick Answer
This is a seat belt extender made for the Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid. It adds 12cm, 23cm, 25cm or 36cm of belt length. You push it into the buckle, click your belt into it, and drive. All sizes and all colours fit every seat in the car, in the hybrid, plug-in and electric versions.
Names People Use for the Ioniq
The Ioniq was sold with three different powertrains, and owners search for it by many names. All of these are covered by this extender.
Which Hyundai Ioniq Does It Fit?
The original Ioniq is a single generation with the series code AE. The chart shows when each version was built, and the table lists the model names people use, the years, the series code and the markets where it was sold. Years can vary by market. All sizes and colours fit every version listed.
| Model / Variants | Years | Series | Markets |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ioniq Hybrid, Ioniq HEV, HEV Plus | 2016 to 2022 | AE | South Korea from February 2016, then Europe, North America, Australia, Japan, Malaysia and other markets |
| Ioniq Plug-in, Ioniq PHEV, Ioniq Plug-in Hybrid | 2017 to 2022 | AE | South Korea, Europe, North America, Australia and other markets |
| Ioniq Electric, Ioniq EV | 2016 to 2022 | AE | South Korea, Europe, North America, Australia and other markets, with a small electric only build in Ethiopia |
| Original look (before facelift) | 2016 to 2019 | AE | All markets above |
| Facelift, refreshed styling and cabin tech | 2019 to 2022 | AE | All markets above |
The Ioniq was built in Ulsan, South Korea, with hybrid models also built in Kulim, Malaysia. Production ended in July 2022. The newer Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6 and Ioniq 9 are different electric cars and are not covered on this page.
⚠ When the Belt Falls Short
A thick coat, a larger frame, a sore back or a baby bump can leave the buckle just out of reach. In a low, sloping hatchback like the Ioniq, twisting and stretching for the belt gets tiring fast.
✓ Buckle Up in One Move
With 12cm to 36cm of extra length, the belt meets your hand halfway. You sit down, click, and go.
Made for the Ioniq
Fits the buckle in the front seats and the rear seats, in hybrid, plug-in and electric versions.
Click and Go
No tools and no setup. Push it in until you hear the click.
Steel and Tough ABS

How to Fit It in 3 Steps
Click it into the car buckle
Push the extender tongue into the Ioniq buckle slot until you hear a click.
Fasten your belt into it
Slide your belt tongue into the extender buckle, just like a normal belt.
Tug and check
Pull gently to confirm both clicks. The belt should lie flat across your hips and chest.
