VinFast VF 9 Seat Belt Extender

Product description
Shipping & Return
🛡E4 & E8 Certified · Built In A UK Registered Factory

Buckle Up Comfortably In Your VinFast VF 9

Count your seats before anything else. The VF 9 came as a six seater with captain's chairs in the middle or a seven seater with a bench, and the difference decides whether a middle centre position exists at all. The third row holds two seats either way.

The Problem

Three rows mean three separate difficulties rather than one repeated. The front console sits high beside each seat and swallows the buckle stalk. A 123kWh battery under the floor lifts the middle bench above its anchorage, lengthening the reach behind the hip. Furthest back, shorter belts are reached by somebody who has just climbed past a tilted seat, often while a car seat occupies the row in front.

The Solution

A certified extender sized to the correct row returns the connection point to where the hand already rests. One click into the vehicle buckle, one click with the factory tongue, and the belt fastens first time. Nothing is cut, drilled, or modified, and each unit lifts out again in seconds.

Exceeds Break-Strength

Built to surpass international break-strength tests for three-point belts.

Six Seats Or Seven? Check Your Middle Row

Both configurations put two seats in the third row, so the only variable is what sits between the front and the back.

Configuration How To Recognize It Belt Positions
Six Seat Two captain's chairs in the middle, heated and ventilated, with a walkway between them. Six, and no middle center seat
Seven Seat A full-width bench across the middle row, seating three abreast. Seven, including a middle center seat on its own stalk
Third Row, Either Way Two seats with no middle position, reached past a tilting middle seat. Two, left and right only

The Third Row Deserves Its Own Attention

Getting into the back of a VF 9 is not a simple slide. The middle seat tilts and flips forward on a shoulder-mounted handle rather than running along a rail, and passengers exit by pulling that handle and climbing out past the console. Anyone already seated back there has arrived in an awkward position and is reaching for a belt that is shorter and anchored differently from the rows in front.

Order a dedicated third row part rather than moving one forward from the middle row, and name the side. Every time that middle seat tilts and returns, glance at the belts and stalks behind it, because webbing is easily trapped by a seat that has folded itself back into place.

One point to be clear about. Lower anchor points are provided in the middle row rather than the third row, which means a child seat placed in the very back relies on a belt installation. An extender must never be used on a belt securing a child seat or booster, so the third row cannot take both at once. Seat the child restraint in the middle row where the anchors are, and keep any extender for adult passengers.

Buckle And Tongue Width By Seat Position

VinFast documents its cars thoroughly but publishes no buckle dimensions, which is normal across the industry. The guidance below comes from the published construction. Confirm with a photograph before ordering.

Seat Position Tongue Width What To Watch For
Front Driver And Passenger Expect the common fitting, around 7/8 inch or 22mm A front seat middle airbag deploys between these two, so keep the gap free of loose webbing.
Middle Row Outer Similar nominal width, raised seating position Captain's chairs tuck the latch against the seat base. A bench leaves it on a flat cushion.
Middle Row Centre Separate stalk, seven seat cars only Absent entirely on six seat cars. Check before ordering one.
Third Row, Left And Right Shorter belts, anchored differently Dedicated part required. No middle seat exists back here, and no lower anchors either.

Captain's Chairs Change The Middle Row Answer

On a six seat car the middle chairs are heated, ventilated and power-adjustable with lumbar support, mounted individually rather than sharing a cushion. The latch consequently tucks against a contoured seat base rather than sitting out on a flat bench, which tends to point towards a rigid extender that holds the buckle clear.

Seven seat cars behave differently. The bench presents a broader, flatter cushion where reach rather than obstruction is the obstacle, so a regular extender usually suits. Worth saying plainly that the bench also offers more flexibility for fitting child seats than the captain's chairs do, which matters if you are arranging a growing family across the middle row.

The Biggest Battery In The Range, Under The Biggest Cabin

At 123kWh usable, the VF 9 carries half as much pack again as the VF 8 and more than twice the VF 6. All of it lies flat beneath a cabin measuring 5,118mm long on a 3,150mm wheelbase. The arrangement produces a level floor through all three rows, which is why the middle row works properly and the third row is habitable at all.

Cushion height is the trade-off, with the middle bench riding higher relative to its anchorage than a combustion equivalent would. Passengers sit above the latch instead of level with it, which makes reach the limiting factor. The same effect on smaller scales is covered on our VinFast VF 8 seat belt extender and VinFast VF 7 seat belt extender listings.

Recommended Variation By Seat

Three styles and several lengths are stocked across the full extender range. Where most VF 9 owners land is set out row by row.

Seat Start Here Step Up To
Front Driver Rigid 3 inch, which holds its shape and leaves no slack between the seats Rigid 5 inch, or regular 18cm where length rather than height is the issue
Front Passenger Rigid 3 inch, for the same reason as the driver's side Rigid 5 inch, or regular 18cm in heavy winter clothing
Middle Row, Captain's Chairs Rigid 3 inch or 5 inch, lifting the buckle clear of the contoured seat base Adjustable 23cm to 66cm where passengers vary
Middle Row, Bench Outer Regular 18cm for an average reach across the raised cushion Regular 25cm where the latch sits well behind the hip, or for coats
Middle Row Centre Regular 25cm, since the center occupant reaches furthest across the bench Adjustable 23cm to 66cm for a seat used by different people
Third Row Regular 25cm, for a shorter belt reached from an awkward start Adjustable 23cm to 66cm, which suits the row whose occupants change most

Order for the seats that need it, not all seven. A large family car invites buying a set, and that is rarely the right call. Extenders are for people who cannot otherwise fasten the standard belt, so work out which positions genuinely have a problem and cover those. Whatever length you choose sits permanently between hip and anchor, making surplus webbing slack rather than protection, and in the front row that space also serves the centre airbag.

What VinFast's Specification Confirms

Eleven airbags are fitted across both Eco and Plus trims, covering front, curtain, front side, second row side and front knee positions, plus a front seat middle airbag that deploys between the two front occupants. Both trims share the same 123kWh battery, dual motor all-wheel drive and 402hp output, differing on seat materials, seat adjustment and wheel size rather than on anything structural.

All-wheel drive here comes from a second motor on the rear axle rather than a propshaft, so no tunnel runs through any row and the floor stays flat from front to back. Your seats take the same parts whichever trim you own. Lower anchor points for child restraints sit in the middle row, with the third row relying on belt installation instead.

Choose The Style That Fits Where You Sit

Across three rows the answer changes more than once, so identify the obstacle before choosing the style.

Style Best For
Rigid A solid section in 3, 5 or 7 inch holding the buckle upright and visible. Preferred in the front row and alongside captain's chairs, where an obstruction rather than distance is the problem.
Regular Woven webbing in 18cm or 25cm matching your factory belt. The usual answer across a middle bench and in the third row, where reach is the limiting factor.
Adjustable Woven webbing with a sliding adjuster from 23cm to 66cm. Well suited to a seven seater, where the rear rows carry different people on different journeys.

How It Works

Nothing is cut, drilled, or modified. Fitting takes about five seconds and the extender lifts straight back out whenever you want it gone.

1

Click the extender's tongue fully into your seat belt receptacle.

2

Buckle your seat belt into the extender, listen for a clear click, then tug to confirm it holds.

3

To remove it, press the release button just like a normal belt.

Pick The Shortest Length That Works

Add only the minimum length needed to buckle comfortably. More webbing is not safer, it simply introduces slack.

1.Count The Seats First

Six or seven, which tells us whether a middle centre position exists on your car.

2.Name Row And Side

Front, middle or third, then left, right or centre. Each position is ordered separately.

3.Photograph The Latch Plate

Especially for the third row, where a picture beats any written description.

Questions Worth Answering

1Does My Middle Row Have A Centre Seat?+
Only if you have the seven seat configuration. VinFast offered the VF 9 either as a six seater with two captain's chairs in the middle and a walkway between them, or as a seven seater with a full-width bench seating three abreast. Six seat cars have no middle centre position and therefore no centre belt to extend, which catches people out when ordering. The third row holds two seats with no middle position in either configuration. Count your seats, then tell us the row and the physical side.
2Does The Third Row Need A Different Extender?+
Yes. Third row belts are shorter and anchored differently from the rows in front, and the passenger reaches them having just climbed past a middle seat that tilts and flips forward on a shoulder-mounted handle rather than sliding on a rail. Order a dedicated third row part and name the side, since there is no middle position back there. Check the belts and stalks each time that middle seat returns to position, because webbing is easily trapped behind a seat that has folded itself back down.
3Can I Use One With A Child Seat In The Third Row?+
No, and the combination deserves spelling out because the VF 9 makes it tempting. Lower anchor points are provided in the middle row rather than the third, so a child seat placed in the very back has to be installed using the belt. An extender must never be used on a belt that is securing a child seat or booster, which means the third row cannot take both. Put the child restraint in the middle row where the anchors are, and reserve any extender for adult passengers. The bench configuration offers more child seat flexibility than captain's chairs if you are arranging several.
4Do Captain's Chairs And A Bench Take The Same Part?+
Not usually, and the difference is about style rather than fitting. Captain's chairs are mounted individually and contoured, which tucks the latch against the seat base and points towards a rigid extender that lifts the buckle clear. A bench presents a broader, flatter cushion where distance rather than obstruction is the obstacle, so a regular extender in 18cm or 25cm generally suits better. Tell us which configuration you have along with the row and side, and send a photograph if you are unsure.
5Is It Road Legal Here, And What If It Does Not Fit?+
Our extenders carry E4 or E8 type approval, the European mark showing a part has been tested and approved to the relevant standard, and they are made in a UK-registered factory compliant with ISO/TS 16949:2009 to exceed international break-strength requirements for three-point belts. Read your owner's manual alongside the safety notes supplied before use. Extenders are intended only for people who cannot otherwise fasten the standard belt, and should be unclipped from empty seats, which matters in a car where several positions sit unused on most journeys. If a part does not fit, return it within the guarantee window for a refund.
